Genk forward Tolu Arokodare, who recently earned his first call-up to the Super Eagles for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, has expressed eagerness to make his senior debut.
The 24 year-old received his maiden invitation to the Nigerian senior national team after a stellar campaign in Belgium’s Pro League, where he has consistently proven his quality.
Arokodare marked his historic call-up in style, finding the net as Racing Genk secured a 2-1 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise on Saturday.

With 17 goals in 30 league appearances, the Nigerian striker leads the Belgian Pro League scoring charts, sitting ahead of Sint-Truidense’s Adriano Bertaccini and Anderlecht’s Kasper Dolberg, who both have 14 goals.
Speaking after the match, an emotional Arokodare revealed his pride and excitement about joining the Super Eagles squad in Kigali.
“I still don’t know how to feel. It’s a mix of only great feelings for me and my family. I can’t wait to put on that shirt. Tomorrow (Sunday) I’m leaving,” he told Voetbalnieuws.
His call-up fulfils a long-held dream of representing Nigeria at the senior level.
With the battle for striking spots intensifying, Arokodare will compete with Osimhen, Boniface, and Lookman for a place in the starting lineup.
However, his imposing physique, aerial ability, and clinical finishing make him a valuable addition to Eric Chelle’s squad.
His impressive form in Belgium suggests he could bring much-needed firepower to the Super Eagles’ frontline.
Nigeria, currently struggling in their World Cup qualification campaign, faces two crucial matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles must secure maximum points to revive their chances of making it to the 2026 World Cup, and Arokodare could play a crucial role in that mission.
