Super Eagles midfielder, Raphael Onyedika returned to Club Brugge training on Monday morning, boosting his chances of featuring in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Aston Villa.
Onyedika picked up an injury during Brugge’s 2-1 defeat to Standard Liège on February 23, which ruled him out of their last Pro League match against KAA Gent.
Manager Nicky Hayen opted not to risk the midfielder, prioritizing his recovery ahead of the crucial European fixture.

According to HLN, Onyedika was back in full training, putting him in contention for the matchday squad against Villa.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Hayen confirmed, “In principle, he can play.”
Onyedika has been a regular starter in Brugge’s Champions League campaign, missing only the home leg against Aston Villa due to suspension.
If selected, his presence in midfield will provide defensive stability and ball progression, which could be crucial against a high-intensity Villa side.
However, the 23-year-old is at risk of suspension for the second leg at Villa Park, having already been booked in games against Sporting CP and Atalanta.
A yellow card on Tuesday would see him miss the return fixture.
Meanwhile, Onyedika will be a major boost for new Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who is set to announce his squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria face Rwanda before taking on Zimbabwe, and Onyedika’s availability could strengthen their midfield options.
With Nigeria currently struggling in their qualification campaign, securing victories in both games would be crucial to reviving their chances.
