Neymar Scores on PSG Debut vs. Guingamp

Neymar made a dream start to his Paris Saint-Germain career on Sunday after scoring in the debut for his new club during their Ligue 1 meeting against Guingamp.

World’s most expensive footballer Neymar scored on his PSG debut in a French backwater.

The Brazilian’s stunning £200million move from Barcelona also included wages of £50million-a-year – or £1million-a-week.

He started away to Ligue 1 minnows Guingamp in his favoured No10 shirt – kindly donated by team-mate Javier Pastore, who was left on the bench for his trouble.

And there were some tricks in flicks in the centre circle during the warm-up to whet the appetite of the 700 chanting PSG fans who had made the trip.

Guingamp is a tiny Brittany town of just 7,000 – two and a half times smaller than the capacity of the Stade Roudourou.

The region is better known for campsites and crepes.

But the ground was packed with every seat sold, and no doubting as to what was the hottest ticket in France this weekend.

The club’s official Twitter account celebrated their £200 million signing’s first major contribution in setting up Edinson Cavani for PSG’s second goal, but Neymar then recorded his maiden strike to make it 3-0 for his new side:

PSG beat Amiens 2-0 in their Ligue 1 season opener at the Parc des Princes last Saturday, but they looked far more convincing in attack on Sunday with Neymar as a part of their starting lineup.

Neymar’s late strike proved to be the final addition to the scoreline as PSG maintained a 100 per cent record in Ligue 1 this season, having yet to concede a goal after 180 minutes of game time.
