Emmanuel Dennis has assured Blackburn Rovers fans that exciting times lie ahead after sealing a loan move from Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the season.
The Nigerian forward, who joined on transfer deadline day, becomes the fourth Super Eagles player to wear Rovers’ colours, following in the footsteps of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Dickson Etuhu, and Hope Akpan.
Speaking to RoversTV, Dennis expressed his enthusiasm about the move:
“Rovers are in a very good position and the team plays good football, so I hope I can add a bit of something to the team for us to have a good time together.”
He also promised entertainment for the fans, saying:
“Goals are no problem, but I also like having fun, showing tricks, nutmegs and exciting the fans, because that’s what they come to the stadium to see. They come for fun, some happy moments and victories.”
“People come from home to sit in the cold and watch us play, so you have to give them something.”
The 26-year-old, who has previously played in Ukraine, Belgium, Germany, and Turkey, emphasized his hunger for football.
“I’m a happy guy, I’m always happy and it’s a good feeling when I’m scoring goals. I’m excited to go out there in front of the fans and they’re going to have a good time with me”
“I can’t wait to meet all the lads and to start playing with the team.”
Dennis moved to Nottingham Forest in 2022 from Watford for a reported £20 million fee but struggled to secure a regular place in the squad.
After an impressive debut Premier League season with the Hornets, where he netted 10 goals in 2021-22, he found opportunities at Forest limited.
A loan spell at Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir in 2023-24 also failed to provide the breakthrough he needed.
Blackburn sees Dennis as a valuable attacking addition, with his versatility making him a key asset for manager John Eustace as the club pushes for promotion.
The Nigerian international, who has represented his country on multiple occasions, will be eager to rediscover his best form at Ewood Park.
Regular game time at Rovers could offer him the platform to reignite his career after struggling for consistency in recent seasons and maybe another chance with the national team.
