Super Falcons forward, Jennifer Echegini, continued her impressive form for Paris Saint-Germain Féminine (PSG).
Echegini provided a crucial assist in their 2-1 victory over Strasbourg in the French D1 Arkema on Saturday.
The midfielder, who has been a key performer since joining PSG, played a pivotal role in the game at the Stade de la Meinau.
As the match approached halftime, she delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Romee Leuchter, who found the back of the net in the 45th minute, putting PSG ahead.
PSG doubled their lead in the 63rd minute after a defensive mishap by Laurine Hannequin, who turned the ball into her own net under pressure from the visitors.
However, Strasbourg refused to go down without a fight, and in stoppage time, Liana Lina Joseph capitalized on Emily Evels’ assist to pull one back for the hosts.
Echegini, who has been in red-hot form, was substituted in the 69th minute for French defender Griedge Mbock as PSG aimed to maintain their advantage.
Red-Hot Echegini’s Impressive Stats
The Nigerian midfielder’s impact at PSG has been undeniable. With three goals and two assists in just eight league games, she has cemented herself as a vital cog in Gérard Prêcheur’s side.
With this result, PSG remains third in the French top-flight standings, collecting 32 points from 14 games.
They sit just one point behind second-placed Paris FC and eight points adrift of league leaders Lyon.
Next Challenge: Coupe de France Quarterfinal
Echegini and her PSG teammates will now shift their focus to the Coupe de France quarterfinal clash against Le Mans on February 7, 2025 as the team continues their quest for silverware.
