Sevilla manager García Pimienta has confirmed that Kelechi Iheanacho will make a decision on his future before the winter transfer window closes.
The Nigerian forward is edging closer to an exit after struggling to secure a regular spot in the team since joining Sevilla on a free transfer last summer.
Iheanacho, 28, has failed to score in nine LaLiga appearances, but has managed three goals in the Copa del Rey.
Despite his lack of league impact, several clubs are interested in signing him, with Sevilla open to either a loan or permanent transfer.
“He has many offers and is deciding which is the best option. He will be called up, but he has to decide which is his best option,” Pimienta said in a press conference before the Getafe game.
Competition Heats Up
Iheanacho’s situation has been further complicated by the arrival of fellow Nigerian striker Akor Adams from Montpellier.
With Adams now in the squad, the former Manchester City forward finds himself even lower in Sevilla’s attacking hierarchy.
Despite this, interest in Iheanacho remains strong. Clubs from England, Italy, France, and Greece are monitoring his availability.
However, he has already turned down a move to Greek giants Panathinaikos, as a switch to Greece is not a priority for him.
Sky Sports Germany’s transfer expert Florian Plettenberg also reports that Iheanacho has rejected an approach from Italian side Venezia.
Meanwhile, although Leeds United have ruled out a move, other Championship clubs, including Sheffield United, continue to keep tabs on him.
Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille has previously been linked with the Nigerian striker.
Time Running Out
With less than 48 hours left in the winter transfer window, Iheanacho must make a decision quickly. If a move does not materialize in the coming days, he risks becoming a fringe player under García Pimienta for the rest of the season.
