Why Akor Adams is the Perfect Fit for Our Style – Sevilla Sporting Director

Sevilla Sporting Director Víctor Orta believes Akor Adams has what it takes to boost the club’s attack as they aim to improve their La Liga standings.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker joined Sevilla from Ligue 1 side Montpellier during the winter transfer window, as the Spanish club sought reinforcements for their underperforming front line.

Orta revealed that Sevilla had been monitoring Adams for years, noting his potential during his stints in Norway and at Montpellier.

“He [Akor] is a player we have been following for a long time, starting from his time in Norway and then in Montpellier, where he recorded excellent numbers,” Orta said.

“Then, due to the circumstances of the team, he did not maintain that level. But when we saw that he was available in the market, we did not hesitate to hire him because he can give us physicality, speed, back-to-goal play, and aggressiveness.”

Orta expressed optimism about Adams’ ability to adapt to La Liga and make an impact.

“I think he’s a fairly complete striker, who has already played in a powerful league, the French league, a difficult league, with a lot of marking, a lot of aggressiveness. I think can help us here and can add and can contribute with all these virtues to the team.”

Adams began his Montpellier career on a high but struggled with injuries and a subsequent dip in form. Despite these setbacks, Sevilla sees him as a valuable addition to their squad, which has scored just 24 goals in 21 matches this season.

The Nigerian forward joins compatriots Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho at Sevilla, although reports suggest Iheanacho may leave before the transfer window closes.

Currently sitting 12th in the La Liga standings, Sevilla will be counting on Adams to provide the spark needed to climb the table and secure a better finish this season.
