Super Falcons forward, Jennifer Echegini delivered a standout performance, scoring one of the goals in Paris Saint-Germain’s emphatic 6-1 victory over Nantes in the Coupe de France Women’s Round of 16 on Friday.
At the Stade Marcel Saupin, Manssita Traore opened the scoring for PSG in the ninth minute. Echegini doubled their lead just six minutes later with a composed right-footed finish from inside the box after receiving a well-placed pass.
Although Daniella Marcano pulled one back for Nantes in the 30th minute, PSG responded in dominant fashion, unleashing a flurry of goals in the second half.
Tara Elimbi restored PSG’s two-goal cushion three minutes after the restart, and Korbin Albert extended their advantage in the 51st minute.
Dutch forward Romee Leuchter was the star of the match, netting a hat trick, with her goals coming in the 10th, 61st, and 89th minutes to complete the rout.
Echegini’s compatriot, Chinaza Uchendu, featured for Nantes, coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute but was unable to influence the outcome as PSG cruised into the quarterfinals.
This victory marked a strong response from PSG after their 2-0 league defeat to defending champions Lyon last week.
They will now turn their attention to their upcoming league match against Strasbourg.
