Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has been recognized for his outstanding performance by earning a spot in the Ligue 1 Team of the Week.
Simon delivered a stellar display in Nantes’ 1-1 draw against Saint-Etienne on Sunday. The 29-year-old opened the scoring in the 14th minute, giving Antoine Kombouaré’s side an early lead.
However, a late equalizer from substitute Augustine Boakye, four minutes from time, denied Nantes all three points.
Simon was the only Nantes player included in the Team of the Week, a testament to his consistent contributions this season.
The pacy winger has already recorded five goals and five assists in 16 league appearances for the Canaries.
The Ligue 1 Team of the Week also features Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, Gautier Lloris (Le Havre), Arouna Sangante (Le Havre), Thilo Kehrer (Monaco), and Ismaily (Lille) in defense.
The midfield lineup includes Ludovic Blas (Rennes), Haris Belkebla (Angers), and Fabian Ruiz (PSG), while Bradley Barcola (PSG) and Mousa Tamari (Montpellier) join Simon in attack.
Simon has been pivotal in Nantes’ battle to avoid relegation, contributing directly to 10 goals this season. Despite sitting 15th in the Ligue 1 table with 17 points from 18 games, Nantes will aim to build on Simon’s brilliance as they strive to pull further away from the relegation zone in the second half of the campaign.
