Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq opened his account for Valencia on Tuesday, scoring in their 2-0 victory over Ourense CF in a Copa del Rey Round of 16 clash at Estadio O Couto.
Sadiq, who joined Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad in January, made his first start for the club after two previous substitute appearances.
The Nigerian forward made an impact by netting Valencia’s second goal in the 78th minute, sealing their progression to the quarterfinals.
The match began with Valencia taking the lead through an own goal by Francisco Carmona, putting them ahead against their third-tier opponents. Sadiq’s late strike secured the victory and ensured Los Ches advanced comfortably.
The win marks a key moment for Sadiq, who will look to build on this performance and translate his goalscoring form into La Liga, where Valencia are eager to improve their league standings.
Valencia will discover their quarterfinal opponents after the conclusion of the current round of Copa del Rey fixtures.
