CAF Postpones CHAN to August, Draw to Proceed as Planned

The Confederation of African Football, CAF has announced a shift in the schedule for the 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN.

Initially slated to run from February 1 to February 28, 2025, the tournament will now take place in August. CAF is yet to confirm the exact date.

In a statement shared via a communique, CAF assured that the draw for the competition, initially scheduled for Wednesday, January 15, will proceed as planned.

The draw will take place at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

The decision to reschedule was driven by the need to ensure that the necessary infrastructure and facilities meet the required standards for hosting a successful tournament. CAF’s technical and infrastructure experts, who have been working on-site in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, recommended the postponement to allow for additional preparation time.

The 2024 CHAN will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, marking a significant collaboration among the three East African nations.

CAF emphasized its commitment to delivering a world-class tournament and stated that updates regarding the new tournament dates will be communicated in due course.
