Super Eagles defender Ola Aina played a starring role with a second goal of the season, leading Nottingham Forest to a crucial 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
Aina opened the scoring in the 38th minute, expertly finishing Neco Williams’ driven cross with a precise strike into the bottom-left corner.
The goal broke the deadlock seven minutes before halftime, putting the visitors in control.
Nottingham Forest doubled their advantage just six minutes into the second half, courtesy of Anthony Elanga.
The forward capitalized on a defensive error to secure the win and inflict Brentford’s first home defeat of the season.
Aina’s performance was nothing short of stellar, as he delivered on both ends of the pitch. With 56 touches and a passing accuracy of 79% (21 out of 29 passes), he played a vital role in Forest’s build-up play.
His attacking threat was evident, scoring from his only shot on target and coming close with another effort.
Super Eagles teammate Taiwo Awoniyi also featured in the game, albeit briefly. Awoniyi replaced Chris Wood in the dying moments of stoppage time.
The victory marked a significant boost for Nottingham Forest as they continue to build momentum in their campaign.
