Tottenham Hotspur will face a daunting challenge in the Carabao Cup semifinals after securing a dramatic 4-3 victory over Manchester United in the quarterfinals.

The high-scoring thriller match saw Spurs advance to the next round, where they will meet Premier League leaders and defending champions Liverpool.

The draw for the semifinals, held shortly after Wednesday’s quarterfinal matches, also set up an intriguing clash between Arsenal and Newcastle United, with the Gunners to host the Magpies at the Emirates in the first leg, set for January 6.

Tottenham’s progression came on the back of a controversial win against Manchester United, where defensive lapses allowed United to score three times despite trailing early.

Spurs now face the formidable task of overcoming Liverpool, who are not only the Carabao Cup holders but also leading the Premier League by two points over Chelsea.
