“NFF Still Owes Us,”- Super Eagles Legend Taribo West

Former Nigerian international Taribo West has disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF still owes him and his teammates significant sums of money, to the point where he can no longer keep track of the amount.

West, who was capped 42 times for Nigeria between 1994 and 2005, participated in two World Cups (1998 and 2002) and two African Cup of Nations tournaments.

He was also part of the historic 1996 Olympic team that won gold in Atlanta.

Speaking with Brila.net, the 1996 Olympic gold medalist expressed his frustration over the unpaid dues

“The NFF is owing us too much money; I’ve lost count. We just forget it.

Somebody fed fat on our sweat. We forgive them and release it to them.”

West also recalled that during the 1998 World Cup, the players were not paid by the federation, a situation that highlighted the financial challenges they endured despite representing the country at the highest level.

Despite his illustrious career as a defender, during which he made 42 appearances for Nigeria, Taribo did not score any goals but remained a key figure in the team’s successes during his time.

West’s comments add to a growing list of grievances from former players who have spoken out about unpaid wages and bonuses owed by the NFF over the years.
