Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi has reached a major milestone with Fulham, making his 50th appearance for the club during their 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday.
The former Arsenal player featured for the entire match, underlining his key role in Marco Silva’s squad.
Iwobi joined Fulham from Everton in the 2023/24 season and quickly became an integral part of the team.
This season, he has scored five goals and provided three assists in 15 Premier League appearances.
To celebrate Iwobi’s achievement, Fulham shared a tribute on social media. “Half a century in black and white for @alexiwobi!” the club posted on X.
The 28-year-old’s latest milestone further cements his status among the top Nigerian players in Premier League history.
In April, he marked his 250th league appearance, placing him fourth on the all-time Nigerian appearances list.
Now with 268 appearances, Iwobi has climbed to third, overtaking John Mikel Obi (249) and Yakubu Aiyegbeni (252).
Ahead of him are Shola Ameobi, who made 298 Premier League appearances for Newcastle United, and Nwankwo Kanu, with 273 matches.
Iwobi trails Kanu by just five appearances and Ameobi by 30.
With his consistency and form, the Nigerian star is well-positioned to surpass both legends, potentially setting a new benchmark for Nigerian players in the Premier League.
