Nigeria forward, Rinsola Babajide scored once again for Costa Adeje Tenerife, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win as they battled to a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Babajide opened the scoring for the hosts in the 24th minute at the Football Field in Adeje, giving Costa Adeje a 1-0 lead. However, Atletico Madrid responded quickly after the break, with Sheila Guijarro equalizing in the 52nd minute.
The visitors took the lead for the first time in the match just five minutes from the end, as Silvia Lloris put Atletico ahead with a late goal.
Shockingly, in the dying moments of the game, Maria Perez rescued a point for Costa Adeje Tenerife, scoring in added time to level the score.
Babajide, who netted her fourth goal of the season, was substituted in the 64th minute for Moroccan Sakina Ouzraoui Diki.
Meanwhile, her teammate and fellow Nigerian, Gift Monday, played the entire match and received a yellow card in the 75th minute.
Atletico Madrid, now sitting in third place with 25 points from 12 matches, extended their unbeaten streak.
Costa Adeje Tenerife remains in sixth with 17 points.
