CHAN 2025Q: 30 Players in Camp as Home Eagles Kick Off Preparations Against Ghana

The home-based Super Eagles have begun intense preparations for their 2025 African Nations Championship, CHAN qualifying showdown with Ghana’s Black Galaxies.

A squad of 30 players has settled into camp at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne, Ogun State.
The team, led by head coach Augustine Eguavoen, arrived at the facility on Wednesday and has already commenced rigorous training sessions.
The Super Eagles held two sessions on both Thursday and Friday as part of their build-up. Training is set to continue on Saturday, as the squad fine-tunes strategies for the crucial first leg in Accra on Sunday, December 22.
The Black Galaxies will host the initial encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the decisive second leg will unfold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, December 28.
Nigeria and Ghana share a tense CHAN rivalry. In the qualifiers for the inaugural edition in Côte d’Ivoire, the Super Eagles squandered a 2-0 first-half lead in Accra, eventually losing 3-2.
The return leg in Calabar ended in a goalless draw, denying Nigeria a spot in the finals.
More recently, in the qualifiers for the last edition held in Algeria, Ghana defeated Nigeria 2-0 at home but fell by the same scoreline in Abuja.
However, the Black Galaxies triumphed via penalties at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, securing another painful elimination for the Super Eagles.
As the two nations prepare to renew their rivalry, all eyes will be on the Super Eagles’ readiness to overcome history and clinch a spot in CHAN 2025.
