Leicester City ended their winless streak in style with a 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Tuesday night, marking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s managerial debut with a perfect start.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was instrumental in the Foxes’ success, delivering a commanding performance that set the tone for the team.
Although Ndidi didn’t register a goal or assist, his defensive contributions were vital.
The match started explosively with Jamie Vardy scoring in the second minute to give Leicester an early lead.
Bilal El Khannouss doubled the advantage in the second half before Patson Daka added a third. West Ham’s Niclas Füllkrug netted a consolation goal in stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough to derail Leicester’s momentum.
Ndidi’s statistics highlighted his dominance: he won 15 of his 19 duels, completed a game-high nine tackles, and contributed 11 clearances and two interceptions.
The Nigerian midfielder also displayed his versatility, completing two dribbles, maintaining an 83% passing accuracy, and even coming close to scoring with a missed opportunity in the second half.
After the game, Ghanaian teammate Abdul Fatawu took to social media to praise Ndidi’s performance. Sharing a picture of them in the dressing room, he captioned it: “Well done Mr. 4 legs,” a nod to Ndidi’s tireless efforts on the pitch.
Leicester will aim to build on this momentum as they face Brighton at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, with Ndidi likely to play a key role in their pursuit of another victory.
