Former Arsenal captain William Gallas has strongly advised his former club to pursue Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to bolster their Premier League title hopes.
Arsenal Kai Havertz, who arrived from Chelsea, has struggled to make a significant impact as a striker despite being deployed in various attacking roles.
The German international has managed just seven goals across all competitions this season, falling short of expectations on regular occasions since joining the club.
Gallas, however, believes Arsenal needs a player of Osimhen’s calibre to mount a serious title challenge.
Speaking to Genting Casino and quoted by Metro, Gallas was forthright in his assessment of Havertz:
“Havertz is a good player, but he’s not top class. I’m sorry, but he’s nowhere near a world-class level, Arsenal need a player to replace him as striker.”
Why Osimhen?
The former Arsenal defender expressed bewilderment over Victor Osimhen’s current loan spell at Galatasaray, insisting the Nigerian forward belongs at the very top of European football.
“I still don’t understand why Victor Osimhen is at Galatasaray, he needs to play in the Premier League and he can play at the top level at Arsenal.”
“It’s difficult to understand football sometimes, he played really well at Napoli, then made a move to Galatasaray, who are a big club but he needs to be playing at a higher level.
Arsenal need a striker like Osimhen, the club needs to wake up, it’s obvious and simple, they need a striker.”
Osimhen has been in scintillating form for Galatasaray, contributing eight goals and four assists in just ten appearances across all competitions. His performances have further cemented his reputation as one of Europe’s elite forwards.
Although the 25-year-old has dismissed the possibility of leaving Galatasaray in January, speculation remains high about his next move. By the end of the season, the Super Eagles star is widely expected to secure a transfer to one of Europe’s top clubs, with Arsenal frequently mentioned as a potential destination.
