The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been placed in Group B of the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to take place in Morocco next summer.
The Nigerian team will face Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana in the group stage of the tournament.
In the draw conducted on Friday at the Technical Centre of the Mohamed VI Football Complex in Sale, Morocco, the Falcons were pitted against two North African teams, Tunisia and Algeria, alongside Botswana.
The Super Falcons are expected to be strong contenders, especially given their recent victories over Algeria in friendly matches, where they won 2-0 and 4-1 on home turf last month.
Botswana, who secured their spot by eliminating Gabon in the qualifiers, will also present a challenge.
Tunisia, who reached the quarter-finals of the last Women’s AFCON in Morocco in 2022, will be keen to advance further this time around.
In other groupings, host nation Morocco, runners-up in 2022, are in Group A alongside Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
South Africa, the reigning champions after their 2022 triumph, have been drawn into Group C with Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania.
The 13th edition of the Women’s AFCON will be held from July 5 to July 26, 2025, and will feature 12 nations competing for the coveted continental title.
