The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the draw procedure for the 2024 Total Energies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place in Morocco next year.
The event will begin with the official draw on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Salé, at 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT).
The tournament, which will feature Africa’s top 12 women’s football teams, will be divided into three groups of four.
These teams will be seeded based on their current FIFA rankings, ensuring a balanced distribution for the group stage.
Seeding Breakdown:
- Level 1: Morocco (host), Nigeria, South Africa
- Level 2: Zambia, Ghana, Tunisia
- Level 3: Mali, Senegal, Algeria
- Level 4: DR Congo, Tanzania, Botswana
As the host nation, Morocco will automatically occupy position A1 in Group A.
Defending champions South Africa will be placed in position C1 in Group C, while the third team in Level 1 will take position B1 in Group B.
