CHAN 2025: No Training Until Final Squad List Announcement

The CHAN Eagles’ interim coach is set to release the final squad list for the team ahead of their 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana.

Nigeria will face Ghana in another highly anticipated Jollof Derby during the Christmas period, with the winner of the two-legged encounter earning a spot at next year’s CHAN, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The CHAN Eagles have missed out on the last two editions of the tournament, a competition reserved exclusively for players who ply their trade in their domestic leagues.
In 2022, Ghana eliminated Nigeria in the final playoffs, denying them a place at the tournament.
This time, Nigeria is determined to overturn their fortunes and secure the ticket at Ghana’s expense.
In preparation for the qualifiers, the CHAN Eagles have been training on weekdays before returning to their respective clubs for weekend fixtures.
However, there will be no form of meeting or training again until the final squad is announced.
Victor Collins, one of the players training for the December clash, confirmed this during an interview with Brila.net.
“They have not announced the list; we are waiting for it. The next time we all assemble will be when the final list is out. So I’m in Nasarawa now,” Collins explained.
Fixtures Set for December
Ghana will host the first leg between December 20 and 22, while the return leg will take place in Nigeria a week later.
The overall winner will advance to CHAN 2025, with hopes high for Nigeria to reclaim their place on the continental stage.
