Ugo Ugochukwu Makes History with 2024 FIA Formula Regional World Cup Win

17-year-old Ugo Ugochukwu made history on Sunday by clinching the 2024 FIA Formula Regional World Cup title at the iconic Macau Grand Prix.

Ugochukwu becomes the first American driver to win the renowned Macau Grand Prix in over 40 years.

The young prodigy, representing R-ace GP, dominated the race from start to finish, holding off fierce competition from Olivier Goethe of MP Motorsport.

Ugochukwu, who had shown impressive pace throughout the weekend, including winning the qualifying race, credited his success to his unwavering confidence while under pressure.

“I can’t describe the feeling; of course, I’m super happy,” Ugochukwu said after the race.

He added, “Of course, we won the Quali race as well, but there was still one more thing to do, which was win the main race, and we managed to do it.

“I can’t thank the R-ace GP team enough. We had a great weekend, and yeah, I’m super happy to finally get the job done.”

Ugochukwu’s victory adds to an already impressive career that has seen him rise rapidly through the ranks of motorsport.

Born in New York to Nigerian model and former queen, Oluchi Onweagba, he began his racing journey in 2014 at the age of seven.

In 2016, Ugochukwu expanded to European racing, finishing as a runner-up in the Mini ROK Cup and later winning several prestigious international karting titles.
