Super Eagles full-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel has opened up about his time working under Jose Mourinho, offering insights into their special relationship and the impact the legendary coach has had on his career.
Osayi-Samuel made a brief appearance in Nigeria’s recent 1-1 draw against Benin but is expected to start in Monday’s encounter against Rwanda, following Ola Aina’s departure from the national team camp to return to his club in England.
In an interview with Brila.net, Osayi-Samuel spoke fondly of his relationship with the former Chelsea boss, sharing both the challenges and the rewards of working under Mourinho’s guidance.
“He’s like a father figure,” Osayi-Samuel said. “But if you get on his wrong side, he can be your biggest enemy. Overall, though, I love him so much.
“He’s done so much for me so far, and he’s the best manager I’ve ever had, and I have had him for less than six months.”
The full-back, who has been crucial for Fenerbahce this season with appearances in eleven matches across all competitions including a notable outing in the Europa League against Manchester United emphasized his desire to continue learning from Mourinho.
“I just want to keep learning as much as possible under him and improve as a player,” he added.
With his contract set to expire next summer, Osayi-Samuel’s performances and his relationship with Mourinho could play a key role in shaping his future.
