Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong says playing against Gernot Rohr will have a familiar air about it.
Ekong spoke during Nigeria’s pre-match conference in Abidjan ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifying second-leg match against Benin Republic.
Gernot Rohr served as Super Eagles manager for almost six years before his sacking in 2021.
The German was appointed by Benin Republic and he has played against Nigeria twice since then.
Ekong believes the knowledge of the Coach and familiarity with the team will be impactful on Thursday’s match.
“The last game we played against Benin was in Togo (Abidjan) if I’m correct, and we won at home. We know Benin is a good team, Gernot Rohr was my coach with the national team previously for over five years; he knows the team very well.
“I’ve played against Benin several times and it was all difficult games so we have to bring our best.”
