The Felix-Houphouet Boigny Stadium will host Nigeria’s away game in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers against Benin Republic, and CB William Troost-Ekong says Super Eagles will feel at home.
Nigeria has a history of playing some big matches and picking impressive results.
At the AFCON this year, Nigeria won all three matches played at the Le Félicia, including crunch round of 16 and quarter-final matches against Cameroon and Angola.
Ekong was not available when Benin hosted Nigeria at the same venue back in March, but the Super Eagles were stunned 2-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
However, the Super Eagles captain insists there’s something special about Le Félicia
“I think here especially in this Stadium where we have some amazing memories earlier this year, we’ll be very ready and we feel at home in Abidjan and I’m confident we can do the job; to qualify by winning tomorrow and that’s what we’re going out to do.
“This Stadium gives us confidence we felt at home here, and I feel the Ivorien fans will probably be on our side, because we made it very difficult for them but eventually they went away happy.
“Hopefully, we’ll have that same support again and the conditions are perfect for us; we’ve been training very well.”
Nigeria needs a point to secure qualification for next year’s tournament, when asked about the Team’s mentality, Ekong said:
“But we do know it’s going to be a difficult game so we’re going to have to bring our best.
“From what I’ve seen in training in the camp, we look very ready for the game tomorrow.”
