The Super Eagles now have their complete squad in Abidjan as Umar Sadiq arrived early Wednesday morning, bringing the team to full strength ahead of their AFCON qualifier second-leg match against Benin.
Speaking with Brila.net, the team’s media officer Promise Efoghe confirmed Umar’s arrival:
“Sadiq Umar joined the team very early this morning around 4 a.m. He was part of breakfast and will rest before joining the gym session later this evening, followed by training.”
The media officer also reported that there are no injury concerns, and all players are focused on tomorrow’s game.
The squad’s newest call-ups, Gabriel Osho and Victor Collins, are well-integrated into the group, with strong bonding among all players.
Their official initiation rituals will take place after the match, as the team is set to depart Abidjan for Uyo on Friday.
Today’s schedule includes a gym session at 3 p.m. and training at 7 p.m., lasting an hour and a half.
A press conference will be held at 5 p.m. at the stadium, though training will take place elsewhere.
Due to the heavy schedule of upcoming matches in Abidjan involving other African teams, neither Nigeria nor Benin will have the opportunity to train on the stadium pitch prior to the game.
With preparations in full swing and the players in high spirits, the Super Eagles look forward to delivering a strong performance in Thursday’s crucial match.
Nigeria currently leads the group and need only a point to secure qualification.
