Chinwendu Ihezuo’s Goal not Enough as Pachuca Fall 2-1 to UANL Tigres

Nigerian forward, Chinwendu Ihezuo found the net in Pachuca’s 2-1 defeat to UANL Tigres in a Mexican women’s league match, on Monday.

Pachuca created multiple chances in the match, however, fell short with Ihezuo’s late goal serving only as consolation.

The Super Falcons star had several more chances in the first half, including a one-on-one, but was thwarted by Tigres goalkeeper Aurora Santiago.

The hosts took the lead in the 58th minute when Lizbeth Ovalle fired in a left-footed shot. Pachuca’s defense then faltered, allowing Natalia Colin to tap in Tigres’ second goal in the 65th minute.

Ihezuo eventually broke through in stoppage time, rounding the goalkeeper and scoring her ninth goal of the season.

She played the full match alongside Nigerian compatriot Osinachi Ohale.

Ihezuo also received a yellow card in the 55th minute.

With this loss, Pachuca remains in fourth place with 37 points from 17 games. They next face Juarez on November 7, 2024.
