Nigeria international, Gift Monday continued her impressive form after the international break, scoring a goal and providing an assist in Costa Adeje Tenerife’s 2-1 Liga F comeback victory over Athletic Bilbao, on Saturday.

Fresh from scoring for Nigeria in a friendly against Algeria, Monday made an impactful return to her club, where her performance earned her the Player of the Match award.

Athletic Bilbao initially took the lead through Ane Elexpuru, who scored with a left-footed strike from outside the box in the fifth minute.

Monday leveled the game for Tenerife, connecting with Aleksandra Zaremba’s cross and heading it home.

Before halftime, she assisted Nina Richard’s goal in the 44th minute, which secured the comeback win for Tenerife.

The former Rivers Angels and Robo Queens forward played the entire match, bringing her season tally to four goals and two assists in the league.

Her Nigerian compatriot, Rinsola Babajide, remained on the bench as an unused substitute.

With this win, Costa Adeje Tenerife increased their points to 12 from eight matches. They will next play Guiniguada Apolinaria in the Copa de la Reina on November 6, 2024.
