Nigerian forward, Ifeoma Onumonu opened her goal-scoring account for Montpellier, netted her first ever goal as the team defeated Guingamp 7-0 in the Women’s French top-flight clash, on Saturday.
Onumonu put Montpellier ahead in the ninth minute at Stade Bernard Gasset Terrain, connecting with an assist from Oceane Deslandes.
Cameroonian teammate Nina Ngueleu doubled Montpellier’s lead at the half-hour mark, followed by a quick brace from Lea Khelifi in the 38th and 41st minutes, pushing the score to 4-0.
Onumonu added an assist, setting up Ngueleu for Montpellier’s fifth goal.
Further goals from Kethna Louis and Rose Kadzere completed the resounding victory.
Onumonu was substituted by Kadzere in the 70th minute. She earned a goal and assist to her name in the game.
With this win, Montpellier now sits sixth on the league table with 10 points from six matches.
They are set to face Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Paris FC on November 9, in their next league outing.
