Sixers star, Joel Embiid let it rip during a media appearance, firing back at individuals who called out his dedication to the franchise and game.
Embiid, 30, has not played a game this season and is reportedly in recovery, but the Olympic gold medal winner with Team USA, revealed he had put his health at risk to get back to action in the past.
“I came back early with the risk of losing my vision… When I see people saying he doesn’t want to play… I do think it’s bullsh*t… I’ve done way too much for this f*cking city to be treated like this,” Embiid said during the presser.
It was his first media appearance since the infamous comment about embracing load management.
Those comments has since cost the Sixers organization an NBA fine of $100,000.
Embiid was himself in the firing line for his stance, and veterans Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley criticized the Franchise star.
However, former Bulls player Joakim Noah has jumped to Embiid’s, arguing players are overworked and at the risk to their careers most have showed up on game nights even against medical advice.
“These are elite players; at the highest level of the game, and they are super competitive no doubt. Do you think Embiid and Kawhi (Leonard) wouldn’t want to be out on the floor all every single night?”
“My career was cut short because of injuries; either coming back to early or pushing my body when I shouldn’t have.”
