Ola Aina Reveals His Toughest Nigerian Opponent

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest full-back, Olaoluwa Aina has named Moses Simon as the toughest Nigerian opponent he’s faced in one-on-one situations.

In an interview with the Counter Attack Podcast, the former Chelsea defender was asked to name the most challenging winger he’s encountered.

Aina identified Simon crediting his unique combination of speed and sharpness for making him a difficult opponent to handle.

“To defend against, probably Moses Simon. I wouldn’t say he’s unpredictable because you sort of know what he’s going to do, but his sharpness makes him really difficult to deal with. He’s so sharp off the mark,” Aina explained.

Meanwhile, Moses Simon continues to shine for Nantes, contributing two goals and three assists in eight games.

Known for his quick dribbling and pace, he remains a crucial part of the Super Eagles’ attacking force. In their recent match against Libya, Simon assisted Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the only goal, to defeat the Mediterranean Knights.

Both players hope to reunite in November, pending their selection for Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.

The Super Eagles only need a point from these fixtures to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
