Red Star Belgrade forward, Peter Olayinka has undergone successful surgery after sustaining an Achilles tendon injury during the club’s recent UEFA Champions League match against AS Monaco.
The Nigerian striker was substituted in the game after suffering the injury and now faces a lengthy recovery period.
The surgery was done in Finland by a renowned specialist, with Red Star Belgrade confirming the procedure’s success in an official statement.
“Peter Olayinka was successfully operated on in Finland by a famous doctor after sustaining an Achilles tendon injury from a blow he received during the match in Monaco,” the club announced.
“Everything went well, and we are now monitoring the post-operative period to estimate the return timeline for our player. We wish him a speedy recovery and return to the field!”
Olayinka joined Red Star Belgrade in 2023 from Sparta Prague and has made an impressive start to the season, scoring two goals and registering two assists in six league appearances.
The Super Eagles striker will now begin rehabilitation as he aims to return to full fitness.
