Stranded, Players Protest!Rangers Overwhelmed Before Crucial Zesco Game

Ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup 2nd-leg Play-off tie against Zesco United, Enugu Rangers were stranded at the airport on Thursday after it turned out the contingent could not get enough seats on their designate flight.

The delay meant Rangers had to postpone their departure for the Zesco United match until Friday.

 

Apparently, the club had communicated CAF about the hitch and managed to get their kick-off time moved by two hours and thirty minutes.

 

 

 

The Nigerian Champions were held 2-2 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday, leading to the suspension and subsequent sack of Technical Adviser, Imama Amapakabo.

Further crisis engulfed the club whilst the team waited to board at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport brila.net learnt.

 

 

Some of the delay at the airport is believed to have resulted from a quite protest over match allowances. The players demanded payment before travelling.

 

 

Earlier, in a chat with brila.net on Thursday, Rangers Captain, Okey Odita assured that the players did not refuse to travel as reports had suggested.

 

He, meanwhile, maintains that the team was in high spirits and were looking forward to the reverse fixture of their play-off game against the 2016 Zambia cup champions.
