FG Replaces Sports Ministry with National Sports Commission, Appoints Dikko as DG

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the appointment of Mallam Shehu Dikko as the Director General of the newly reconstituted National Sports Commission (NSC).

This follows the dissolution of the Ministry of Sports Development.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the government confirmed that the NSC will now assume the responsibilities previously handled by the Ministry of Sports Development, effectively replacing it.

Mallam Shehu Dikko, who was formerly the Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League Governing Body (League Management Company) and also served as the 2nd Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, brings extensive experience in sports administration to his new role.

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has been reassigned to serve as the Minister of State for Trade and Investment.

This restructuring is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline its sports development strategy and improve the management of the sector.
