Nigeria began their U20 WAFU Zone B title defence on a disappointing note, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Burkina Faso at the Stade Municipal in Lome, Togo.
The only goal of the match came in the second half, as Burkina Faso’s Coulibaly Dramane capitalized on a defensive error by the Flying Eagles, who failed to clear the ball from their penalty area.
With the loss, Nigeria now sits at the bottom of the group and must win next game to stay in contention.
Failure to win means the defending champions will miss out on qualification for the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
