“First of all, I would like to thank God. Though it has not been easy, it was through our team plan and spirit that we made it. Following the coach’s instructions was crucial, and that is why we were able to succeed.”

“My ambition in the tournament is to fight hard because we are always ready to face any challenge that comes our way. That’s our slogan, and we are determined to win in all our games.”

When asked if there was pressure due to Nigeria’s strong reputation in African women’s football, Essien remained unfazed.

“Not really. We maintain the mindset to focus on our game and do what we know how to do best, which is to perform and bring out our best.”

CAF announced on Wednesday that the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League will be hosted and held at Morocco.
