Spanish Liga F club, Real Betis Féminas has officially announced the signing of Chinyere Mercy Kalu.
Kalu signed three-year contract that will keep her at the Andalusian club until 2026.
The 18-year-old midfielder was part of Nigeria’s Falconets squad at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica and made an appearance off the bench against Canada.
Kalu has represented several Nigerian clubs, including Martins White Dove FC, Osun Babes FC, Rivers Angels FC, and Nasarawa Amazons FC.
She previously represented Nigeria at the U17 level before progressing to the U20 side.
Her move to Real Betis follows in the footsteps of Super Falcons players Roosa Ariyo and Rinsola Babajide, as well as former Super Eagles stars Victor Ikpeba, Finidi George, and Nosa Igiebor, who have all played for the Seville-based club.
Real Betis Féminas, founded in 2010, finished 11th in Liga F last season and are currently 15th in the standings. They will face Granada in their next league fixture on Saturday, October 19.
