The Confederation of African Football has confirmed receiving an official complaint from the Nigeria Football Federation concerning the “poor treatment$ of the National Men’s team, Super Eagles, during their trip to Libya, on Sunday.
The Super Eagles and their staff were stranded at a Libyan airport for over 16 hours under distressing conditions.
The team’s flight to Benghazi, was allegedly directed by Libyan authorities to land in an abandoned Airport Al Abraq, and confined without access to food, water, or internet services.
In response to the incident, the NFF and the Nigerian government have pulled out of the scheduled match, following widespread public and players outrage.
CAF has referred the case to its Disciplinary Board for investigation, vowing that those found in violation of its regulations will face appropriate sanctions.
Nigeria had previously won the reverse fixture 1-0 in Uyo, on Friday.
