Libya’s head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, has admitted that his team may struggle against Nigeria in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Friday.
Al-Hadiri, who was only appointed as head coach in late September, will be managing his first game for the national team in this high-stakes encounter.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Thursday, Al-Hadiri praised the Super Eagles, acknowledging that Nigeria is one of the strongest teams on the continent and the clear favorite to win the match.
“We are fully aware of the strength of the national team.” Al-Hadiri said. “Nigeria team is a very strong team in africa and it is a team that is sure of qualifying for the nations cup.”
The Libyan coach continued, highlighting the challenge his team faces.
“We know that the match here is going to be a very strong game we are playing a very strong team in Africa.

“After our loss against Benin, our focus now is to improve and see how we can take the next step.”
“The most important thing for us is to see how we can pressure the Nigeria national team.”
While realistic about their chances in Uyo, Al-Hadiri suggested that Libya’s focus might shift to the return leg in Tripoli.

“We don’t stand a chance to win it here but when we get to Libya we will make sure to correct our errors and have a very good result at home.”
Libya, who are currently bottom of the group, are hoping to turn their fortunes around under their new coach.
Although Al-Hadiri has downplayed their chances against Nigeria, he remains optimistic about their AFCON qualification hopes, starting with their performance in Uyo.
