It has been six years since the last meeting between Nigeria and Libya in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in Uyo.
On that Occasion, the three-time African champions ran riot with Odion Ighalo leading a one-man, show where he netted a hat-trick to secure a 4-0 victory.
Nigeria dominated the game, and got the series back on track after a defeat and win against South Africa and Seychelles respectively.
However, lot has changed with the team since, and only five players from that squad will be available tomorrow when the sides clash again.
William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, and Ola Aina are all in contention to play this time – with four members from the group now regular starters since that previous meeting.
Ekong is expected the captain Super Eagles come Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, while Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina will expected be handed starting berths by Austin Eguavoen.
So far, Nigeria has four points on the board, and enter Tomorrow’s game with momentum from their results against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Although the team will be without Victor Osimhen, Eguavoen will turn to Victor Boniface and perhaps at some point to Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi to lead the attack line.
Historically, Nigeria has dominated this fixture, picking up back to back wins in the last two competitive meetings.
That’s a record Eguavoen will be keen to defend and knows his team is favorite heading into the game.
