Super Eagles head coach, Augustine Eguavoen has set his sights on securing Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as quickly as possible.

Libya however sits at the bottom of the group with just one point.

“We have to be practical about it: our best and surest route to the finals will be to pick up the six points in the matches with Libya.

“This will almost guarantee us a place in Morocco even before Matchday 5. We don’t want to be in any anxiety in the final stages of the campaign,” Eguavoen stated.

The three-time African champions began their qualifying campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin Republic, followed by a draw against Rwanda.

Winning both matches against Libya would see Nigeria move to 10 points, putting them in a strong position to secure early qualification.

“There are possibilities and opportunities for us to seal qualification at the end of these two matches. We will do our best to take our chances and have the ticket in hand before the final round of games,” Eguavoen added.

The Super Eagles will host the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday evening.

The return leg will take place on Tuesday night at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, located 19 kilometers from Libya’s second city, Benghazi.
