Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Dele Bashiru has emphasized that his jersey number is irrelevant; his primary focus is to perform well and contribute to the team’s success.

In an exclusive interview with Brila media, the Lazio forward shared his thoughts while preparing for the Super Eagles’ AFCON qualifying matches against Libya.

Dele Bashiru expressed satisfaction with his current season, noting that his national team call-up is a testament to his hard work.

“I’m having a decent season with one goal and one assist, which feels great for me and my career.

“Being called up to the Super Eagles shows that I’m doing my job, and it’s always good to receive a call-up,” he stated.

When asked about potentially wearing the number 10 jersey, he said, “Whatever number I’m given, my main focus is to perform for the team.”

After missing the AFCON qualifiers in September against Benin and Rwanda due to injury, Bashiru is back with the squad and eager to earn a spot in the starting lineup.

The Super Eagles will face Libya on Friday, October 11, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, followed by a reverse fixture on October 15.
