Exclusive: Super Falcons Player leaves Madrid CFF, Moves to North America

Forward, Opeyemi Ajakaye has officially ended her association with Spanish club, Madrid CFF and has signed a deal with an undisclosed club in the United States.

The 18 year-old forward, who recently represented Nigeria at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Venezuela, joined Madrid CFF from FC Robo Queens following a breakout performance at the U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022.

Ajakaye had not featured in any matchday squads for Madrid CFF since June, sparking speculation about her future with the club.

After not making her Liga F debut for Madrid CFF, the talented forward is set to embark on a new chapter in the U.S., following the path of Super Falcons stars like Asisat Oshoala, Deborah Abiodun, Michelle Alozie, Uchenna Kanu, and Nicole Payne.

While the specific terms of her agreement with the American club remain confidential, it is yet to be confirmed whether Ajakaye will join the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) or the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer league, with both seasons nearing their conclusions.

Ajakaye made her senior debut for the Super Falcons in October 2023 during the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifier against Ethiopia, coming off the bench late in the game at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa.
