Kelechi Iheanacho was withdrawn from Leicester City’s pre season friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach after just 18 minutes for precautionary reasons after the new signing picked up a knock.
Kelechi, who joined the Foxes from Manchester City on a five year deal, showed the Leicester crowd just what he is capable of for Craig Shakespeare men in Friday’s match.
It seems the 20-year-old has formed an instant understanding with the exciting Algerian maestro, Riyad Mahrez.
The duo were introduced on 66 minutes and eight minutes later combined to provide Front man, Jamie Vardy with his second goal of the night and the winner in a 2-1 victory against the Bundesliga side.

However, Kelechi’s impact was short lived after the goal, following a rash tackle from Monchengladbach’s Laszlo Benes.

Leicester City Manager, Craig Shakespeare however calmed the worries in his post match comments, assuring the player was substituted as a precaution.

“We’re just really making sure that was more of a precaution. He hasn’t trained very often, he hasn’t been able to because of circumstance.

“Last thing he needed was another kick on it, so we played if safe,” Shakespeare explained.
On the night, another Nigerian, Wilfred Ndidi started for the Premier League club but the third of the musketeers at Leicester this season, Ahmed Musa was on the bench.
