Nigeria Women’s U-19 cricket team, the Junior Female Greens, have secured a spot in the 2025 ICC U-19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia after clinching the Africa Qualifier Division 1 title in Kigali, on Sunday.
The Nigerian team emerged victorious against Zimbabwe in the final match, held at the Gahanga Cricket Oval.
This was the second meeting between Nigeria and Zimbabwe during the tournament.
In their first encounter, Nigeria recorded a one-wicket victory in the group stage.
With this latest win, Nigeria completed the qualifier undefeated, finishing at the top of the standings.
At the World Cup, Nigeria will compete in Group C, where they will face New Zealand, South Africa, and Samoa.
The 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup will take place from January 18 to February 2, 2025.
This will be the second time Nigeria is qualifying for the World Cup as the men’s U-19 team, also played at the 2019 World Cup in South Africa in 2019.
