Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface came off the bench to deliver a late winner in a thrilling 7-goal contest for Bayer Leverkusen against Wolfsburg at the BayArena, on Sunday.
Boniface was introduced in the 68th minute, replacing Patrik Schick, and found the back of the net in the 93rd minute to seal a dramatic 4-3 victory for Leverkusen.
Leverkusen initially held a 2-1 lead by the 32nd minute, but Wolfsburg responded strongly, going into halftime with a 3-2 advantage.
In the second half, Piero Hincapié levelled the score in the 48th minute, setting up a nail-biting finale.
Boniface’s late heroics ultimately secured all three points for Leverkusen.
Boniface is gradually cementing his place in the squad, and Xabi Alonso may soon have no reason not to make him a regular starter in the coming weeks.
The 23 year old now boasts three goals and one assist in five appearances across all competitions this season.
