Rivers United secured the top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Lobi Stars on Saturday.

Kabiru Abdullahi scored the decisive goal for Finidi George’s side, netting 11 minutes from time to ensure the win. Abdullahi’s strike marked his third goal of the season for the former NPFL champions.

With this victory, Rivers United now sit at the top of the NPFL standings, having accumulated seven points from three matches, in an impressive run that has seen them keep two clean sheets on the road so far this season.
