Osimhen Silences Mourinho with Performance in Galatasaray’s Win Over Fenerbahce

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen is still awaiting his first goal for Galatasaray after failing to find the back of the net during their 3-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig, on Saturday.

While Osimhen didn’t score, he provided an assist and put in a strong performance, helping Galatasaray secure a comfortable win in the Istanbul derby.

Osimhen’s performance is a perfect response to Fenerbahce’s coach Jose Mourinho who had criticized him before the game.

Galatasaray broke the deadlock when Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic scored an own goal in the 20th minute.

Eight minutes later, Osimhen set up his former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens for the second goal, expertly chested down a cross from the left, allowing Mertens to lob the ball over the goalkeeper.

Osimhen, who also registered an assist on his debut for Galatasaray, played the full 90 minutes and had three shot attempts during the match.

Gabriel Sara added a third goal for Galatasaray just before the hour mark, while Fenerbahce’s Edin Dzeko pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.

Despite failing to score, Osimhen’s performance was widely praised as Galatasaray replaced Fenerbahce on top of the Turkish Super Lig.
