No Serious FA Keeps Its Technical Director As Head Coach – Agali

Nigerian forward, Victor Agali has urged the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to make a clear and decisive decision on the Super Eagles’ coaching situation, in line with what is expected from a top footballing nation.

Since Finidi George resigned after managing the World Cup qualifiers, the Super Eagles have been without a permanent head coach.

Before the AFCON qualifiers in September, the NFF announced the appointment of Bruno Labbadia.

However, his tenure collapsed just three days later, leaving the team under the interim management of Augustine Eguavoen for two key matches.

Under Eguavoen’s temporary leadership, the Super Eagles secured a 3-0 win against Benin and drew with Rwanda, sparking calls from some quarters for his permanent appointment as head coach.

In an interview on Brila FM’s, “No Holds Barred with Ifeanyi Udeze”, Agali expressed his discontent with the current setup, emphasizing that no serious footballing nation would allow its technical director to handle dual roles for such an extended period.

“If you want to do things correctly as a footballing nation, should we allow the technical director continue for this long?”

“The NFF should get a coach and allow Eguavoen focus on his primary duty as technical director. They should make a decision,” the former Super Eagles forward said.

The Super Eagles’ next match is scheduled for October against Libya, and by then, the NFF will need to decide whether to continue with Eguavoen or appoint a new head coach.
